Kirk Hammett, along with Les Claypool of Primus, video director Mark Kohr, producer Ron Shapiro, and fimmaker Miura Smith, are in the process of formaing a Northern California-based independent film production company. Claypool explains that it was created beacause..."we all have so many friends up here who are in the business, doing a lot of commercial work, and video, and they're all finding to get the big jobs they have to move to Los Angeles. What we wanted to do is create an entity up here that keeps the creative people here. Why? Because the quality of life is better." Is also went into saying that "Kirk is way into it...he's very excited. He's been a film buff ever since I've known him. Of all the people in his camp, he's definitely got the best eye. He has very similar tastes to ours, and we're certainly in the same headspace. It's great to have him onboard." Keep an eye for the companies first project, South of the Pump, to hit an art house sometime within the next year.
