    DVD News - September 30, 1998

MTV News reports that the new Metallica DVD, supposedly entitled Cunning Stunts, will be released December 8th.

    Entertainment Weekly Reports on New Album - September 21, 1998

The 17 year vets of thrash reload record stores with a double CD of covers, and nuthin' but covers. Included will be the band's out-of-print 1987 classic The $5.98 EP: Garage Days Revisited and at least eight still-to-be-determined homages to obscure metal groups and, perhaps to those closet headbangers Bob Seger, Bob Dylan and Tom Waits.

    Behind The Music - September 21, 1998

Sometime in November, VH1's famed music biography program, Behind the Music, will have a feature on Metallica. Behind the Music normally runs between an hour to an hour and a half and features interviews with many known connections to the band. Already known to be interviewed are original bassist Ron McGovney and Ray Burton, Cliff Burton's Father.

    US Apocalyptica Album Release - September 21, 1998

Apocalyptica's new record, Inquisition Symphony, will be released on the US market on September 22. Inquisition Symphony features a handful of Metallica covers, as well as Faith No More, Sepultura, and Pantera covers...all on cellos.

    Metallica: Covered - August 19, 1998

Anthrax's version of Phantom Lord will be released in the US on the Extreme Championship Wrestling album to be released this October. This album will also feature a cover of Metallica's Enter Sandman by none other than Motorhead!

    Jason Rocks Brazil - August 19, 1998

On August 15, Jason performed in Sao Paulo, Brazil along with Sepultura. This was part of a benefit show that featured several guests, including Mike Patton (ex Faith No More). Jason played and sang on "Last Caress" and "Green Hell" and also contributed vocals and bass to the new Sepultura album called "Against", due out October 7th in the states.

    It's A Boy! - August 8, 1998

Lars and Skylar Ulrich welcomed their new son, Myles, into the world at 4:15am on August 5, 1998 in New York City. Myles weighed in at 7 pounds and 8 ounces and was measured at 20 inches. Mother and son are doing fine.

    Jason In Brazil - August 8, 1998

Jason will be part of a benefit concert on August 15th in Brazil. "Noise Against Hunger" is organized by Sepultura and features their home debut with new singer Derel Greene. Also guest starring at this show will be Lemmy from Motorhead, Jello of the Dead Kennedy's, and Mike Patton formerly of Faith No More. Proceeds from the show go to help relief efforts due to severe crop damage in areas of the country.

    Say Unkle - August 8, 1998

Psyence Fiction by Unkle will be released August 24th in England. featuring Jason Newsted from Metallica, Thom Yorke of Radiohead, Richard Aschcroft of the Verve, The Beastie Boys' Mike D and DJ Shadow amongst others. The album will be released on the Mo' Wax label. Jason and Mike D collaborated on a song called "The Knock (Drums Of Death Pt 2)."

    Mega Dave Speaks - August 8, 1998

Dave Mustaine recently posted this in the message boards at the new Megadeth website (www.megadeth.com): "And to those of you that post here that hate us, don't let the door hit ya' on the ass. To very VERY large degree, Megadeth AND Metallica both are responsible for almost all of the great new metal bands out today. Give us a break! Show us both some respect. And if ya' don't like either one, or both for that matter than you are excused."

    The Return Of Garage Days! - July 18, 1998

Mark November 17, 1998 on your calendar! As well as being the release date for the already announced Metallica home video, it will also note the return of Garage Days. This will be a compilation of both Garage Days Revisited, which was released in 1984 as the b-side to Creeping Death and 1987's Garage Days Re-Revisited, an EP that has been out of print for some time now. Both Garage Days' are amongst the hottest of Metallica rarities and collectibles. This new collection will also feature every cover song the band has recorded and released as a b-side. Lars also promises about 40 minutes of new cover songs recorded especially for this project. Tracklist will include (but not limited to):

    DVD/Home Video To Be Released November 17 - July 14, 1998

After months and months of rumors and little tidbits of information, Keyword: Metallica, broke an excellent bit of information. November 17th, 1998 is the official date that Metallica will release a concert shot in Ft. Worth, TX. The concert will be available in two formats. For most of us "regular" people, we will be able to buy the normal VHS home video, while others can enjoy the show with their hot, new DVD player. With the band using the DVD format, Metallica fans can expect different view fun. The DVD will be interactive with choices to choose multiple camera angles and the ability to follow their favorite band member for the entire show. You can also check out what's going on in the production offices and backstage. Both formats will be released on the same day, but the VHS video will not have all the cool extras that the DVD will. The Wayne Isham filmed concer was shot in Fort Worth, Texas on May 9th and 10th in 1997 and features the following setlist:

    Best Rock Video Nomination - July 14, 1998

Metallica is up for a MTV Video Music Award in the Best Rock Video catagory for "The Unforgiven II" video. The song is pit up against Aerosmith ("Pink"), Foo Fighters ("Everlong"), and The Dave Matthews Band ("Don't Drink the Water"). The MTV VMA's will air on September 10th.

    KROCK Online Chat - July 14, 1998

Metallica will be featured in an online chat at the KROCK Radio website on July 17th from 7:00 to 8:30pm.

    No More Diamond Head Covers! - July 14, 1998

Lars has stated that there will be no more Diamond Head covers recorded by the band. The 5 to 8 new cover songs will feature a fresh handful of songs with the possibility of an Iron Maiden cover.
